Buona Vita Inc Recalling Ready-to-Eat Meat Products for Possible Listeria

Buona Vita Inc, of New Jersey, is recalling about 324,770 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat meat and poultry products because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. It’s illegal to sell ready-to-eat foods contaminated with that bacteria in this country.

Brand names affected by this recall include Cupino, Mama Isabella, Buona Vita, Vincent Giordano, Dirusso’s, Silver Lake Brand, Argenta Pride, Whitsons Food Service, M&R Frosted Food Co., Orefresco, Bullpen, Napoli, Whorle’s, Buonamici, Monabella.

The recalled products include meat loaf, meatballs, burgers, and breakfast patties. Packages of recalled products have the estabishment number “P-954” or “Est. 954” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were sold to distribution facilities nationwide. The problem was discovered through microbiological testing at the Ohio Department of Agriculture and the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
