Busch’s Fresh Food Market Recalls Products Made with Gills Onions

Busch’s Fresh Food Market is recalling products made with Gills Onions, which have been recalled for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The products were made between July 20 through July 27, 2012. This recall had been announced last week, but the page on the FDA site was pulled.

The products include: Busch’s Food Bar Soups, Baked Mostaccioli, Chicken Wet Burrito, Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas, Jambalaya with Shrimp, Down Home Lasagna, Chicken Shepherd Pie, and Spaghetti and Meatballs. Also recalled are Busch’s Chicken Quesadillas, Sweet Potato Cakes, Original Potato Cakes, and Sweet Baby Ray’s Barbecue Meatballs. You can see all of the product labels on the FDA web site.

All of the products were cooked. But since the company can’t guarantee that the bacteria were destroyed in the cooking process, and the products are only reheated before serving, they are issuing the recall. Discard them or return to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement.

There have not been any confirmation of illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. This is the fifteenth derivative recall of products made with Gills Onions. Listeriosis, the illness caused by Listeria monocytogenes bacteria, can take up to 70 days to produce symptoms. If you have symptoms of listeriosis, including fever, muscle aches, stiff neck, confusion, and flu-like illness, see your healthcare provider.
