The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has rescinded a March 2012 allergy alert for BioX brand Xtreme Power Whey Isolate Powder and Protein Shot Recovery Blue Raspberry Drink. The products do not contain egg.
The allergen test kit used gave false positive results. According to the CFIA, “in this case, a rare and little known chemical reaction between ingredients in the product is what gave the false positive results. The CFIA’s own testing has confirmed the false positive results and verified that the product is free from egg.”
There were no reported allergic reactions associated with the consumption of these products.
For more information, call the CFIA at 1-800-442-2342.
