Chatanooga Bakery Expands Recall to Include Peanut Butter MoonPie Crunch

The Chattanooga Bakery is expanding their recall of products made with Peanut Butter Crunch because Sunland, the processor of peanuts potentially contaminated with Salmonella, has expanded their recall. Now code dates of MoonPie® Crunch Peanut Butter product of 10/29/12, 12/10/12, 01/07/13, and 01/29/13 are included in the recall.

Sunland Inc. produced Trader Joe’s Valencia peanut butter that has been linked to an outbreak of Salmonella Bredeney. Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in people, with complications including infected aneurysms, arthritis, and endocarditis.

The company has a new approved peanut butter supplier. There have not been any illnesses associated with consumption of this product.  The products are in 9.6 ounce multipack and 2.4 ounce twin pack. For questions, call 423-267-3351.
