Chattanooga Bakery, maker of MoonPie® and LookOut!™ branded snacks, is recalling Peanut Butter Crunch products because they were made with products made by Sunland Inc. Sunland products have been recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. That company makes the Trader Joe’s Valencia Peanut Butter that is associated with a nationwide Salmonella Bredeney outbreak that has sickened 30 people in 19 states.
Sunland has recalled products produced from May 1, 2012 to September 24, 2012. The products are Chattanooga Bakery’s Peanut Butter Crunch Products in 9.6 ounce multipack and 2.4 ounce twin pack. They have “Best By” dates of 2/26/13, 3/25/13, and 4/29/13. No other Chattanooga Bakery/MoonPie/LookOut products are affected by this recall.
If you have purchased these products, do not eat them; discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. For questions, call customer service at 423-267-3351.
