Hummingbird Wholesale of Oregon is recalling organic pinenuts because they may contain undeclared peanuts. Peanuts are one of the major food allergens.
The recall includes Organic Bulk Pinenuts sold at natural food retail stores. The nuts were sold between 3/22/2012 and 8/16/2012. People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may be at risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume the product. The pinenuts were sold in 27.5 pound and 5 pound plastic bags in wholesale packaging. The nuts were sold in retail stores in Washington and Oregon in bulk bins.
No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product. Visual inspection found the peanuts in the pinenuts. You can return the nuts to the place of purchase for a full refund. For questions, call the company at 1-541-686-0921 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Pacific time.
