iFlora Kids Multi-Probiotic Supplement Recalled for Possible Salmonella

Sedona Labs is recalling some lots of iFlora® Kids Multi-Probiotic® supplements because of possible Salmonella contamination. The company’s supplier of one of the ingredients, Calactooligosaccharide,  said that it tested positive for the bacteria.

Recalled products include iFlora® Kids Multi-Probiotic® with the following lot and UPC numbers: Lot number 1074711 (UPC number 6 48575 01013 2), Lot number 1479611 (UPC number 6 48575 01013 2), Lot number 1640811 (UPC number 6 48575 01013 2), Lot number 1734411 (UPC number 6 48575 01013 2), Lot number 1595811 (UPC number 6 48575 01014 9), Lot number 2089411 (UPC number 6 48575 01014 9). The recalled iFlora supplements were sold throughout the United States to health food stores, via health care professionals, and through internet retailers. They were distributed between 3/16/11 and 5/3/12.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in the very young, the elderly, those with weakened immune systems, and people with chronic health problems. Health people can become seriously ill as well. Symptoms of Salmonella infection include fever, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pan, and diarrhea, which may be bloody.
