Justin’s Recalls Peanut Butter Products for Possible Salmonella

Justin’s has announced a recall of some lots of its peanut butters because they were made with Sunland products that have been recalled for Salmonella. Other Justin’s products are not involved in this recall. Fresca Foods in Colorado notified Justin’s that Sunland peanuts were used to make their products in the past, so the company is voluntarily participating in the recall.

The products recalled are 16 ounce Classic Peanut Butter Jars with UPC number 855188003004 and Best By Date of 8-07-13. Also recalled are 1.15 ounce Honey Peanut Butter Squeeze Packs with UPC number 855188003042 and Best By Dates of 7-24-13 and 7-25-13, and 0.5 ounce Honey Peanut Butter 0.5oz Squeeze Pack with UPC number 894455000391 and Best By Dates 07-14-13, 08-10-13, 08-13-13, 08-14-13, and 08-15-13. You can see the product labels at the FDA site.

If you have purchased these items, return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. For questions, call the company at 303-449-9559 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday MT.

There is a nationwide outbreak of Salmonella Bredeney associated with Sunland products and, more specifically, Trader Joe’s Valencia peanut butter. If you experience the symptoms of Salmonella food poisoning, including diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and abdominal pain after eating any peanut products or Sunland derived products, see your healthcare provider immediately.
