Kasel Recalls Nature’s Deli Chicken Jerky Dog Treats for Salmonella

Kasel Associated Industries of Colorado is recalling its Nature’s Deli Chicken Jerky Dog Treats because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. Salmonella can make dogs sick and humans as well simply by handling contaminated pet products.

The products were distributed to 57 Sam’s Club locations in Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. The product is in a clear plastic bag containing 2.5 pounds of chicken jerky. The UPC number is 647263800208 and code number BEST BY 091913 DEN. This lot code tested positive for Salmonella by the FDA.

No illnesses have been reported to date in animals or humans in connection with this product. Pets infected with Salmonella may be lethargic, with diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some animals will only have decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. If your dog is ill, see your veterinarian. Human symptoms of Salmonella food poisoning include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever.
