Nestlé Recalls Purina Veterinarian Diets OM Canned Cat Food for Thiamine Deficiency

Nestlé Purina PetCare (NPP) is recalling one lot of Purina Veterinary Diets® OM Overweight Management canned cat food because it has low levels of Vitamin B1 (thiamine).

Cats who eat this food may develop a thiamine deficiency, and will exhibit symptoms such as decreased appetite, salivation, vomiting, and weight loss. Neurological symptoms can develop after a period of time, including ventriflexion of the neck (bending to the floor), wobbly walking, falling, circling, and seizures. This deficiency is treatable and reversible.
