Dutch Treat Salads Recalls Mexicali Dip for Possible Listeria

In another secondary recall related to the Reser’s Fine Foods recalls for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination, Dutch Treat Salads is recalling Mexicali Dip that contains one ingredient in the Reser’s recall. No illnesses have been associated with the consumption of this product. This contamination did not occur at the Dutch Treat Salads facility.

The recalled Mexicali Dip was sold bulk in 10 pound cases to one distributor in Michigan under the Lipari Old Tyme label. It was sold in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. It was also sold in retail stores in Michigan in bulk 5 pound bags and 14 ounce containers under the Dutch Treat Salads label. The recalled product has “Use By” dates of 10/18/13 through 11/22/13.

If you have purchased this product, throw it away or return to the place of purchase for a refund. If you ate this product, monitor yourself for the symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes food poisoning for the next two months, because that’s how long it can take before symptoms appear. Those symptoms include fever, flu-like symptoms, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, loss of balance, upset stomach, or diarrhea. Pregnant women may only be very mildly ill, but listeriosis can cause miscarriage or stillbirth.
