Farm Rich Recall for E. coli O121 Expands

FarmRichPizzaThe recall of Farm Rich Products for possible E. coli O121 contamination has expanded to include ALL products made at the Waycross, Georgia facility. There are 24 people sickened in 15 states as a result of the outbreak linked to these products; seven have been hospitalized, and at least one has developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). Rich Products is not aware of any illnesses associated with the products in this new recall, but are recalling them out of an abundance of caution.

The recalled foods have best by dates ranging from January 1, 2013 to September 29, 2014. This recall is in addition to products recalled on March 28, 2013.

The recalled foodservice products include Farm Rich Pepperoni Pizzata, Pizza Dipper, Turkey Pizzatta, Stuffed Crust Pizza Dippers, Pepperoni Pizzata, Stuffed Pepperoni Pleezer, BBQ Chicken Sandwich Melt, and Meatball Marinara Sandwich Melt. The recalled consumer brands include Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites, Pizza Slices, Mini Quesadillas, Philly Cheese Steaks, Mini Bacon Cheeseburgers, Mini Pizza Slices; Schwan’s Mini Meatball Sandwiches and Baked Mozzarella Bites; and Market Day Mozzarella Bites. The products were distributed nationwide to retail stores and foodservice distribution customers.

If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Return them to the place of purchase for a refund. For questions and more information, contact Consumer Relations at 1-888-220-5955 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If you ate any of these products and experienced the symptoms of an E. coli infection, including watery and/or bloody diarrhea, severe stomach and abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and mild fever, please see your doctor as soon as possible. Tell her you ate a recalled product and ask for an E. coli 0121 stool culture. Even if you only have a mild case, you could have future health problems because of this infection so it’s important to seek treatment.
