Inc. of Brooklyn NY is recalling Good Taste brand dried plums Plum because the product contain undeclared sulfites and an unallowed dye, E124 (Acid Red 18) dye. People who have asthma or a severe sensitivity to sulfites should not eat this product as they run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction including anaphylactic shock.
The recalled product was sold in a 10.5 oz. clear and foil bag with no production code on the package. The UPC code for this product is 3 867320 507650. This item is a “Product of China” that was distributed in the New York City area.
The recall was initiated after a routine sampling by NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by NYS Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites and E124 – (Acid Red 18) dye in packages of the product.
