Grippo Foods Recalls Potato Chips for Small Metal Fragments

Grippo Foods of Ohio is recalling several varieties of their potato chips because they may contain small metal fragments, which can result in serious injury. Small lacerations in the throat or GI system, dental injury, and choking are all possible. No injuries have been reported to date.

The recalled items include Plain Potato Chips with UPC number 0 76847 12124 6, Bar-B-Q Potato Chips with UPC number 0 76847 14123 7, Cheddar Cheese with a Touch of Jalapeno Potato Chips with UPC number 0 76847 14127 5, Hot Dill Pickle Potato Chips with UPC number 0 76847 14126 8, Sweet Bermuda Onion Potato Chips with UPC number 0 76847 14124 4, and Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips with UPC number 0 76847 14125 1. All bags and boxes of these varieties are recalled. You can see all the pictures of the products at the FDA site.

The bagged chips have an expiration date of May 20 and before. The 1.5 pound boxes have an expiration date of April 29 and before. The products were distributed to retail markets in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois from September 15, 2012 to March 14, 2013.
