Hartz Mountain Recalling Betta Fish Food for Possible Salmonella

Hartz Mountain Corporation is recalling one specific lot of Wardley Betta Fish Food because it may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. People handling the food could contract a Salmonella infection. There have been no reports of illness in pets or people as a result of this issue.

The product was shipped nationwide from May 13, 2013 to June 4, 2013. The product is sold in 1.2-ounce plastic containers; 8,112 products were shipped. The UPC number isĀ 0-43324-01648, isolated to the lot code PP06331 located on the bottom of the package. Routine sampling conducted by Hartz confirmed the presence of Salmonella in the specified lot.
