Hickory Hollow Jerky Recalling Products for Undeclared Fish

Hickory Hollow Jerky LLC, of Alabama is recalling about 1,800 pounds of flavored beef jerky products because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen. The products contain Worcestershire sauce, and fish (anchovy paste) is a subcomponent. The presence of fish is not declared on the label. There have been no reports of adverse reactions associated with this product.

RecallThe recalled products include 3-ounce Original Recipe “HICKORY HOLLOW BEEF JERKY” with the establishment number “EST. 34550” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Also recalled are 3-ounce Sweet Heat BBQ “HICKORY HOLLOW BEEF JERKY” with the establishment number “EST. 34550” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Finally, 3-ounce Hot Shot “HICKORY HOLLOW BEEF JERKY” is recalled, with the establishment number “EST. 34550” on the label. The products were made between December 4, 2012 and June 4, 2013 and were sold nationwide at retail and over the internet.

The problem was discovered by an FSIS inspector who conducted a label review. If you purchased this product and are allergic to fish, do not eat it.
