In Canada, Central Epicure Fish Recall Expanded

The Canadian Food inspection Agency is expanding their recall of Central-Epicure smoked Atlantic salmon for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Now their smoked salmon pastrami is also recalled.

In addition to the Smoked Atlantic Salmon recalled on March 25, 2013, the government is also recalling Central-Epicure Fresh Sliced Smoked Salmon with Vodka in 100 gram packages. The UPC number is 0 61279 21210 5, with best before date of 13AL04. Also recalled is Central-Epicure Smoked Atlantic Salmon Pastrami Seasoned, in 100 gram packages. The UPC number is 0 61279 21220 4, with the best before date of 13AL05.

In a related recall, the CFIA has also recalled gefilte fish produced by Central-Epicure for possible Clostridium botulinum contamination. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this product. The recalled products are Central-Epicure Gefilte Fish, Ready to serve, Sweet, in 600 gram packages. The UPC number is 0 61279 00440 3 and best before date is up to and including 13AL09. Also recalled is Gefilte Fish, Ready to serve, Savoury in 600 gram packages. The UPC number is 0 61279 00442 7 and best before date is up to and including 13AL09 (April 09, 2013).

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Return them to the place of purchase for a refund. For questions, call the CFIA at 1-800-442-2342 Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm ET.
