Marks & Spencer Recall Seafood Meals After Illness Complaints

In the UK, Marks & Spencer is recalling thousands of mussels and clam “ready meals” after complaints of possible food poisoning. The Food Standards Agency is reporting that the meals are being recalled as a precautionary measure.

MusselsThe recalled products are M&S Mussels in Garlic, with codes 00604819 and 00929189 and all use by dates. Also recalled are M&S Mussels in White Wine, with code 00720618 and all use by dates. Finally, M&S Mussels and Clams with code 00667104 and all use by dates is recalled.

The mussels are from Pinneys, based in Scotland. Last summer, several shellfish harvesting areas in Scotland were closed following the discovery of naturally occurring toxins that can cause acute food poisoning in human beings.
