Mountains Dried Mushrooms Recalled For Undeclared Sulfites

DZH Import & Export Inc. of  Brooklyn is recalling Mountains dried mushrooms for undeclared sulfites. Those with severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

dried-mushroomsThe recalled mushrooms  were sold in a 1.23oz (35gram) plastic tray with the following code: BEST BEFORE: NOV. 30, 2013. The UPC number is 6931653104064. The recalled product was produced in China and sold in New York City.

DZH announced the recall after a problem was discovered during routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors. Consuming 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfites sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Consumers who have purchased this product should not eat it.

A few days ago DZH also recalled Curiosity of Dashan dried mushrooms for undeclared sulfides. Those mushrooms are packed in a 3.5 ounce (100 gram) plastic strays with the code: BEST BEFORE: MAY 3rd, 2013 and the UPC number 6939457003484. They were also produced in China  mushrooms  sold in New York City.
