Prime Foods Recalls Latis Brand Seafood for Listeria

Prime Food USA of Brooklyn is recalling Latis Brand Seafood Products due to confirmed and suspected contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.  Although no illnesses have been reported to date, Listeria can cause serious illness and in pregnant women can cause miscarriage or stillbirth.

latis-listeriaThe Latis Brand Seafood products under recall are packaged in various sizes plastic oval type containers. All container sizes are included in the recall. The UPC numbers for the products begin with 75100407…. .The products, which were mad in Latvia, were sold nationwide.  This is the third recall of Latis brand foods Prime has issued for potential Listeria contamination in the last six weeks. On May 1, there was a herring recall. On April 18, there was a herring and salmon recall.

This recall was initiated after inspectors from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food  found Listeria in samples of the product during routine testing. Consumers who have purchased Latis Brand Seafood Products should not consume them. They can be returned to their place of purchase.
