Westlake Foods Recalls Cured Pork for Undeclared Allergen

Westlake Foods of California is recalling about 47,419 pounds of cured pork products because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen, wheat. There have been no reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products.

The recalled products are 11 to 13 pound cases of “Tay Ho Cured Pork Artificially Colored”, distributed for institutional use nationwide. Also recalled are 14-ounce packages of “Tay Ho Cured Pork Sausage with Pork Ears and Snouts”, distributed for retail sales nationwide. Finally, 11 to 13 pound cases of “Don Café Cured Pork Meat and Binder Product Pork skin added” is recalled, distributed for institutional use in the Houston, Texas area.

The products have the establishment number “EST. 1627A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They also have case codes “233001” through “213234.” All of the products were made between January 1 and August 22, 2013. The problem is because of a change in the company’s spice mix.

If you purchased any of these products and are allergic to wheat, return them to the place of purchase. For questions and more information, call Thuy Nguyen, Secretary, at 714-973-2286.
