Black Pepper Recalled for Possible Salmonella

Gel Spice Company of New Jersey has voluntarily recalled 16,443 cases of ground black pepper because it may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

The recalled product is Fresh Finds Ground Black Pepper in 3.53 ounce plastic jars. It was distributed through Big Lots Retail Stores in all states except Alaska and Hawaii. FDA sampling revealed that the finished product contained the pathogenic bacteria. The best by dates for the recalled product that are printed on the neck of the bottle include the dates of 6/30/17, 7/01/17, 7/02/17, 7/22/17, and 7/23/17. The UPC number is 4 11010 98290 1.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard in a doubled bagged container or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
