Fresh Express Salads Recalled for Possible Listeria

Fresh Express Incorporated has recalled some 10 ounce and 6 ounce salads with expired use-by dates because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. No illnesses have been reported in connection with these recalled items. A single sample in a random test had a positive result for the bacteria.

Mixed Salad GreensThe items include Italian Salad in 10 ounce and 6 ounce sizes. The produce code is H071A11A and the use-by date is March 26, 2014. The UPC number isĀ 0 71279-21100 8. The salads were distributed to Mid-Atlantic and Eastern states, including Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia, and Washington D.C.

If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Discard them in a sealed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. If you ate any of these products, monitor yourself for the signs of listeriosis, the illness caused by the Listeria monocytogenes bacteria, for the next 70 days. They include fever, muscle aches, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting, and flu-like symptoms. Pregnant women with listeriosis can suffer miscarriage and stillbirth, even though they may have only mild symptoms.
