Fruits Recalled in Canada for Possible Listeria Contamination

All Fruits Ltd in Canada is recalling several types of fruit blends distributed in Quebec that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The products were distributed to hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals, nursing homes, as well as retailers and distributors. No illnesses have been reported to date. But listeriosis can take up to 70 days to develop after exposure.

All Fruits Listeria RecallThe recalled products all have “best before 23 April 2014”. They include All Fruits 7 Fruits Blend in 5 liter containers, with UPC number 8 31341 00901 4; All Fruits 7 Fruits Blend in 12 liter containers, with UPC number 8 31341 00910 6; All Fruits “Coupe hôpital” in 12 liter containers with UPC number 8 31341 00903 8; and All Fruits 7 Fruits Blend + Orange in 12 liter containers, with UPC number 8 31341 00801 7. Also recalled is Restaurant Maman Fournier 5 Fruits Blend in 5 kg containers, with no UPC number. You can see pictures of the product labels at the CFIA web site.

If you purchased these items, do not eat them or serve them to others. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund. If you ate any of these products, monitor yourself for the symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes food poisoning for the next two months. Those symptoms include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Pregnant women may suffer miscarriage or stillbirth even though they may only have very mild flu-like symptoms.
