Garcia Foods Pork Products Recalled for Undeclared Peanuts

Garcia Foods of Texas is recalling 190,450 pounds of pork products for misbranding and undeclared allergens. These products may contain peanuts, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. Anyone with an allergy to peanuts could have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Hill Country Fare Chorizo RecallThe problem was discovered when the FDA released a recall for Adams Cumin Products, which is directly related to this recall. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date.

The products include Garcia Foods 12 ounce, vacuum packed, raw pork sausage link pieces of “Hill Country Fare Chorizo” and 8 ounce vacuum packaged, raw pork sausage chubs of “Hill Country Fare Chorizo.” They have the establishment number “EST. 13205A” inside the USDA mark of inspection and were shipped to Texas. The chorizo was produced between October 5, 2014 and December 24, 2014. You can see pictures of these product labels at the USDA site.

If you purchased these products and are allergic to peanuts, do not eat them. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
