In Canada, Dark Chocolate Recalled for Undeclared Milk

Simply-Lite-ChocolateThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Leese Enterprises are recalling Simply Lite brand Dark Chocolate because it contains undeclared milk, one of the major food allergens. Anyone with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk could become seriously ill if they eat this product. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recalled product is Simply Lite 50% Cacao Low Carb Sugar Free Dark Chocolate, sold in 85 gram packages. The best by date is 01 18 2015A and the UPC number is 0 00790 20012 3. It was sold in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Ontario and may have been further distributed to other provinces.

The recall was triggered by CFIA test results. The government is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of more products.

If you purchased this product and are allergic to milk, do not eat it. Return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
