In Canada, Sausages Recalled for Salmonella Contamination

Marini Foods Limited is recalling REA brand and Bona brand sausages because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products. They were sold in Ontario.

The recalled products are REA Sweet Cacciatore Sausage in these sizes: 10 pack with code 4237.233 and UPC number 8 41571 04233 0; 4 pack with code 4237.233 and UPC number 8 41571 04233 0; 2 pack with code 4237.233 and UPC number 8 41571 04233 0; and Loose pack with code 4237.233 and no UPC number. Also recalled is Bona Sweet Cacciatore Sausage. None of these products have UPC numbers, and the code on all of them is 4237.233. The 10 pack, 2 pack, and loose pack sizes are recalled.

If you have purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Discard in a closed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. You can see pictures of the recalled products at the CFIA web site.
