Keurig Recalls Mini Plus Brewing System; Burn Injuries Reported

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Keurig is recalling MINI Plus Brewing Systems for burn hazards. Water can overheat during brewing, spray out, and burn people. There have been 90 reports of burn injuries with this system. And there have been 200 reports of hot liquid escaping from the brewer.

The recalled product is Keurig MINI Plus Brewing System with model number K10, previously identified as model number B31. Recalled brewers have an ID number starting with “31” followed by a range of numbers printed on a white sticker on the bottom of the brewer.

These products are single-serve, hot beverage brewers sold in 13 different colors with silver trim. The colors are black, red, white, cobalt blue, aqua blue, purple, platinum, emerald, yellow, orchid, bayberry, mauve and poinciana. The brewers are about 11 inches tall, have a “Brew” button, three cup size brewing options (6 ounce, 8 ounce, and 10 ounce) and a removable drip tray. The recalled products were made between December 2009 and July 2014.

The brewers were sold at Kmart, Target, Kohl’s, Walmart, and other retailers nationwide. They were also sold online from December 2009 through December 2014 for about $100. They were manufactured in China and Malaysia.

If you purchased any of these products, stop using them. Discard or contact Keurig for a free repair.
