Lotte Waffles Recalled for Undeclared Eggs

Lotte brand waffles are being recalled because they contain an undeclared allergen, eggs. People with allergies or sensitivities to eggs should not eat this product as they risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they do. There were no reports of illness associated with this product at the time of the recall.

waffle-recallThe recalled products, made by LOTTE Confectionery Co., Ltd. of Seoul, Korea, were sold in 1.41 ounce (40g) and 5.64 ounce (160g) packages at retail stores in California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Washington, Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, New Jersey, Maryland, and Canada.

They recalled 1.41 ounce products are marked with the barcode 8 801062 518111. The recalled  5.64 ounce products are marked with the bar code 8 801062 518135. They have expiration dates  from July 2014 to Sep. 2015.

The recall was initiated after he Canadian Food Inspection Agency discovered the problem. An investigation revealed that the problem was caused by an error in the company’s product sticker making process.  Product distribution has been suspended until FDA and the company verify that the problem has been corrected.
