Safeway Select French Salted Caramel Ice Cream Recalled for Undeclared Peanuts

Safeway is voluntarily recalling Safeway Select French Salted Caramel (Fleur De Sel) Premium Ice Cream because it contains undeclared peanuts. Consumers with allergies to peanuts should not eat this product as they risk severe or life-threatening reaction if they do. No illnesses or injuries have been reported.

Peanuts in ShellThe recalled product was sold nationwide in all Safeway-owned stores from November 4, 2014 through December 5, 2014. Those stores include: Safeway, Carrs, Genuardi’s, Pak ‘N Save, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Vons. The recalled product was sold in 1.5 quart packages with the UC code21130 08970 and the “best by” date Nov 03 2015.

The  ice cream’s caramel cups ingredient was inadvertently replaced with peanut butter cups due to a supply error.
