Salmonella Prompts Abady Cat Food Recall

Abady Highest Quality Maintenance & Growth Formula for Cats is being recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. The manufacturer, Robert Abady Dog Food Co., LLC of Poughkeepsie, NY, is recalling 2 lb, 5 lb & 15 lb boxes of  the product which were distributed to retail stores nationwide.

abady-cat-food-salmonellaConsumers who have purchased this product should not use it. Pet food contaminated with Salmonella bacteria can cause illness in pets and their humans. Salmonella infections pose special risk for young children, seniors and those with compromised immune systems. Signs of an infection include fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. No illnesses had been reported at the time of the recall.

The recalled product was packaged in 2 lb, 5 lb & 15 lb corrugated boxes with plastic liners marked with lot # 14029/21 stamped on the right side top of the box. The problem was discovered during routine testing. The company has suspended productions of the product during the investigation of the source of contamination.
