Schwan’s Recalls Canapes Assortment for Listeria

According to the FDA’s May 7, 2014 Enforcement Report, Schwans Food Company is recalling two types of canapés manufactured by Holiday Foods that were prepared with ingredients recalled by Parker Farm because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The Parkers Farm products that were recalled included cheese spreads, peanut butter, cold pack cheese, and other products.

Recall SignThe Schwans products that are recalled include Holiday Foods Gourmet Cold Canapes Assortment, 4800361 with UPC number 70220748003616. The product is for institutional use only. There are 971 cases being recalled. The company is also recalling Cheddar Cheese Puffs; there is no word on the UPC numbers or any more information about that product.

If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Return to the place of purchase for a refund. If you ate these products, monitor yourself for the symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes food poisoning for 70 days after exposure. Those symptoms include flu-like illness, fever, muscle aches, upset stomach, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and headache. If you do develop these symptoms, please see your doctor immediately and tell him you consumed a recalled product.
