Silk Light Soymilk Recalled for Undeclared Almonds

WhiteWave Foods is recalling Silk Light Original Soymilk because the packages may contain undeclared almond milk, made from almonds, one of the major food allergens. Anyone with an allergy or sensitivity to almonds or tree nuts could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product.

Silk Light Soymilk RecallThe recalled product is half gallon containers of Silk Light Original Soymilk. The containers are printed with “Use by” dates of either June 22, 2o14 or June 23, 2014 on the front of the carton above the pour spout. The UPC number is 25293 60101 on the back of the package. The recall only applies to these plant codes: 06/22 or 23/14 hh:mm 48-0994 EH3 – 5 1, 06/22 or 23/14 hh:mm 48-0994 EH3 – 5 2, 06/22 or 23/14 hh:mm 48-0994 EH3 – 4 3, and 06/22 or 23/14 hh:mm 48-0994 EH3 – 4 4.

Fewer than 21,402 units of product have been shipped directly to retailers and wholesalers in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to date.

An inadvertent error related to using the wrong carton packaging caused the mislabeling. It is not due to contamination in the manufacturing process, according to the company.

If you purchased this product and are allergic to almonds or tree nuts, do not consume it. Discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
