Updated Allergy Alert on Kinnikinnick Foods Products

Kinnikinnick Foods in Alberta, Canada is expanding its earlier recalls of January 10 and 15, 2014. An ingredient used in these products contained milk allergens taht were not listed by the manufacturer on the label. Testing by the company found milk contamination in a specific lot of an ingredient which was certified by the manufacturer to contain no milk ingredients. The supplier, Burnbrae Farms, has recalled this ingredient. You can see pictures of all of the recalled products except the Panko Bread Crumbs at the FDA web site.

Bread-crumbsThe recalled products include Original Homestyle Waffles in 7.4 ounce packages. The UPC number is 62013300198 1 and the “Up to and including Best Before” dates are 2014AU10, 20140810, and 140810. Also recalled are Kinni-Kwik Bread & Bun Mix in 16.4 ounce cardboard boxes. The UPC number is 62013310550 4 and the “Up to and including Best Before” dates are 2014DE19, 20141219, and 141219. Panko Style Bread Crumbs are recalled, in 12.5 ounce cardboard boxes and UPC number 62013360015 3. The “Up to and including Best Before” dates for that product are 2014AU09, 20140809, and 140809.

In addition, Pancake & Waffle Mix is recalled, sold in 16 ounce cardboard boxes. The UPC number is 62013310512 2 and the “Up to and including Best Before” dates are 2015JA06, 20150106, and 150106. Finally, Cinnamon & Brown Sugar Homestyle Waffles in 7.4 ounce packages are recalled. The UPC number is 62013300199 8 and the “Up to and including Best Before” dates are 2014AU11, 20140811, and 140811.

The products are distributed across Canada and the United States in retail stores and through direct shipments. Anyone who is allergic to milk should return the product to the place of purchase for a refund. If you are not allergic to milk, the products are safe to consume. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of these products.
