USDA Lists Stores Where Recalled Richard’s Brand Boudin Was Sold

boudin-recallA list of stores where recalled Richard’s brand boudin sausage was sold has been released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS.) Carlton Foods of New Braunfels, Texas  recalled approximately 25,764 pounds of fresh Boudin products  on Oct. 30 because they were made with pre-cooked rice that may have experienced temperature abuse and could contain the toxin-producing bacteria Bacillus cereus.

Bacillus cereus bacteria produce toxin that cause illness characterized by nausea and vomiting. These symptoms usually develop between 30 minutes to six hours after consumption of contaminated foods.

The  recalled Boudin sausages were produced Aug. 22, 2014 through Oct. 17, 2014. They include: 12-oz. vacuum-packed packages of “RICHARD’S HICKORY SMOKED BOUDIN,” 12-oz. vacuum-packed packages of “RICHARD’S PREMIUM BOUDIN,” 12-oz. vacuum-packed packages of “RICHARD’S ‘HOT’ PREMIUM BOUDIN,” 16-oz. vacuum-packed packages of “RICHARD’S PREMIUM BOUDIN,” and 32-oz. vacuum-packed packages of “RICHARD’S CAJUN GRILLERS BOUDIN.”

The recalled products have the establishment number “EST. 1943” or “EST. 961” inside the USDA mark of inspection and “Sell By” dates ranging from Oct. 28, 2014, to Dec. 16, 2014. They were shipped to retail locations in Louisiana, Texas and New Mexico including Albertson’s, Kroger, Winn Dixie, Walmart, Super One and United. Click the “stores” link above for a full list.
