Whalen’s Seafood & Burger Sauce Recalled for Undeclared Anchovy

Whalen’s Horseardish Products of Galway, New York is recalling Whalen’s Seafood & Burger Sauce because it contains undeclared anchovy, or fish, in the finished product. The anchovy is an ingredient used in Worcestershire sauce. Anyone with an allergy to fish could have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recalled product was distributed to two wholesalers in New York, to consumers via on-line sales, and to cash & carry customers at the Deerfield Christmas Sampler in Deerfield, Massachusetts on November 28, 29, and 30, 2014. The product is packaged in an 8 ounce clear glass bottle. It may have a sell by date of 17 July, 2015 stamped on a label on the top of the bottle. There is no UPC code. The firm has recovered 23 bottles from the marketplace.

A label review during an FDA inspection discovered the issue. If you purchased this product and are allergic to fish, do not eat it. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
