Jewel Sandwich Rolls and Gonnella Sub Buns Recalled for Undeclared Milk

Gonnella Baking Company of Illinois is recalling sandwich rolls and sub buns for undeclared milk, one of the major food allergens. Anyone with an allergy to milk could have a serious allergic reaction if they consume these products. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Jewel Sandwich Buns Milk RecallThe recalled items are Jewel brand Gourmet Sandwich Rolls in 20 ounce clear plastic bags. The product code is 11563 and “best buy” dates are through 1-25-2015. Also recalled are Gonnella brand Sub Buns in 20 ounce clear plastic bags, with product code 15840 and the same “best buy” dates. They were distributed to retail grocery stores in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana between 12-9-2014 and 1-20-2015.

The problem was discovered during a routine internal labeling audit. You can see pictures of the recalled product labels at the FDA web site.

If you purchased these products and are allergic to milk, do not eat them. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
