Natural Grocers Organic Garlic Powder Salmonella Recall Expanded

The recall of Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets Natural Grocers brand Organic Garlic Powder for Salmonella has been expanded to include all lots. The previous recall in February is expanded. No reports of illness have been received to date.

Natural Grocers Garlic Powder Salmonella RecallPositive tests for Salmonella were reported in product from the company’s supplier, which was repackaged. The recalled product is in clear plastic bags with the Natural Grocers label noting Julian pack on dates and pricing per pound. It was sold in size ranges of 0.25 pound to 0.30 pound. The Julian dates being recalled are: 61-15, 40-15, 20-15, 351-14, 006-15, 316-14, 329-14, 288-14, 301-14, 275-14, 267-14, 252-14, 237-14.

The garlic powder was sold in Natural Grocers’ 95 stores in Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Only packages with those specific Julian dates are recalled.

If you purchased this product, do not use it or eat it. Discard in a sealed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund.

    Paradoxically, garlic acts as a natural antibiotic when consumed fresh, and even studies to demonstrate its antibiotic properties have been tested on Salmonella with positive results. People should start considering plant´s nutritional benefits for treating health concerns and learn how to consume them in the correct way.
