Robber’s Roost Jerky Recalled for Possible Listeria Monocytogenes

Robber’s Roost Jerky is recalling beef and pork jerky because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. No reports of illness have been received to date, but the illness caused by this bacteria can take up to 70 days to appear.

Recall SignageThe recalled product is 6″ individual cryovac sticks of “Smoked Beef & Pork Pepper Stick” with package codeĀ 032420150004. The product has the establishment number “EST. 19962M” inside the USDA mark of inspection. It was shipped to retail outlets in Washington.

The problem was discovered when a sample from the cutting board used to prepare the product had a positive test result for Listeria monocytogenes. If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard in a sealed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. Then wash your hands well with soap and water and clean out your fridge or anywhere the jerky was stored with a mild bleach solution to kill any bacteria.

If you ate this product, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. They include headache, fever, muscle aches, stiff neck, loss of balance, confusion, nausea, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may suffer miscarriage and stillbirth after a Listeria infection, even though they may only have a mild illness. If you do get sick, see your doctor and tell him you ate this recalled product.
