Schreiner’s Sausage Recalls Ready to Eat Meats for Listeria

According to the Arizona Department of Agriculture, Schreiner’s Sausage Company is recalling 28 different ready-to-eat meat products because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. A routine inspection uncovered concerns about manufacturing practices. Without proof of good sanitary practices, government officials consider the products adulterated. The products were distributed in the Phoenix area.

Sausages on GrillThe products all have the establishment number “EST 24” inside the mark of inspection, and were sold before December 1, 2014. They include Linguisa, Smoked Italian Sausage, Smoked Polish Sausage, Smoked Bratwurst, Smoked Andouille Sausage, Hungarian Brand Sausage, Beer Hots Sausage, Smoked metwurst, Pepper Loaf, Veal Loaf, Krakow, Picnic Ham Bologna, Landjaeger, Smoked Boneless Pork Shoulder, Smoked Chicken Sausage, and Bockworst. Also recalled are Braunschweiger, Cajun Style Tasso, Smoked Chorico, Cooked Salami, Bologna, Weiners, Beef Weiners, Cheesefurters, Franks, Knockwurst, Thuringer, and German Brand Salami.

If you purchased any of these items, do not eat them. If you have them stored in the fridge of freezer, discard or return to the place of purchase, then clean the fridge or freezer with a mild bleach solution since Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can grow in those cold temperatures.

If you ate any of these products, monitor yourself for symptoms of listeriosis for 70 days from the date you ate them. Those symptoms include headache, stiff neck, muscle aches, confusion, fever, flu-like symptoms, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal cramps. If you do get sick see your doctor as soon as possible and tell him you ate these recalled products.
