Trader Joe’s Recalls Raw Walnuts for Possible Salmonella

Trader Joe’s is recalling raw walnuts because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

Trader Joes Walnut Salmonella RecallThe recalled items were sold in Trader Joe’s stores nationwide. They are packaged in clear plastic bags with UPC numbers on the back. They include Trader Joe’s Nuts Raw California Walnut Pieces in 16 ounce bags. The UPC number is 00373685, the lot number is GU4345, and the best by date is 12/2015. Trader Joe’s Nuts Raw California Walnut Halves and Pieces in 16 ounce bags is also recalled. The UPC number is 00943338, the lot numbers are GU4346, GU4349, and GU4356, and the best by date is 12/2015.

Also recalled is Trader Joe’s Nuts Raw California Walnut Baking Pieces in 16 ounce bags. The UPC number is 00519342, the lot number is GU4350, and the best by date is 12/2015. Trader Joe’s Nuts Raw California Premium Walnut Halves in 16 ounce bags is recalled. The UPC number is 00519328, the lot numbers are GU4343, GU4344, GU4351, and GU4352.

Finally, Trader Joe’s Organic Raw Walnut Halves & Pieces in 12 ounce bags is recalled. The UPC number is 00586627 and there is no lot number. The best by dates are OCT 15 2015, OCT 16 2015, OCT 17 2015, OCT 20 2015, OCT 21, 2015, NOV 17, 2015, NOV 18, 2015, NOV 19, 2015, NOV 20, 2015, NOV 28, 2015, and DEC 01 2015.

Testing by a company contracted by the FDA revealed the bacteria. If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Discard in a sealed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. You can see pictures of product labels at the FDA site.
