Whole Foods Recalls Meat Products for Undeclared Peanut

Whole Foods Markets is recalling about 33,191 pounds of ready to eat meat products for undeclared peanuts, one of the major food allergens. Anyone with an allergy to peanuts could have a serious allergic reaction if they eat these products. No illnesses have been reported to date. This is a secondary recall; the cumin used in these products has been recalled for peanuts.

RecallThe recalled products all have production dates of 1/14/15 to 2/5/15. They include 16 pound bulk containers of “Chili, Turkey and Black Bean”, 16 pound bulk containers of “Chili, Braised Beef”, 24 ounce packages of “Chicken Chili Burrito”, 24 ounce packages of “Pork Carnitas Burrito”, and 24 ounce packages of Grilled Chicken Breast Quesadilla”.

Also recalled are 10 pound bulk containers of “Chicken Chili Verde”, 10 pound bulk container of “Pork Carnitas”, 1.5 pound packages of “Chili, Turkey & Black Bean”, 1.5 pound packages of “Chili, Braised Beef”, 23 ounce packages of “Blazin’ Beef Chili”, and 10 pound bulk containers of “Beef for Barbacoa (Beef and Onions in Spicy Sauce”.  They have the establishment number “20234” and “18768” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

These products were shipped to retail outlets in Connecticut, Kentucky, Ohio, Maryland, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. If you purchased these products and are allergic to peanuts, do not eat the. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
