Catswell Cat Food Recalled for Contamination

Arthur Dogswell LLC of California is recalling 1,051 cartons of Catswell brand cat food because it may contain propylene glycol. This chemical can cause anemia, which could result in serious injury. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recalled food is Catswell Brand VitaKitty Chicken Breast with Flaxseed and Vitamins. The cartons were packed as either 10 or 50 packages per case. The food was distributed nationwide through retail outlets and mail order from April 13, 2012 to June 14, 2012. The recall was announced after routine surveillance samples showed possible contamination.

The product is packaged in a re-sealable 2 ounce orange plastic bag with a clear window. The  lot codes are: SEW12CH032701/03c and SEW12CH032702/03c with a best before date of 09/10/13 and 09/11/13, respectively, and UPC code 8 84244 00057 2.
