Lao Chareune Foods Recalls Beef and Pork That Was Not Inspected

Lao Chaueune Foods of Texas is recalling about 8,200 pounds of beef and pork products because they were produced without the benefit of federal inspection and misbranded. There have been no reports of illness linked to the consumption of these products. They were produced from May 22, 2012 to the present and were distributed to retail establishments in Louisiana and Texas.

Recalled products include 3-ounce and 8-ounce package containing “Pork Snack Stick”, 3.20-ounce packages of “Seasoned Fried Beef”, 1.76-ounce packages of “Fried Pork Skins”, and 1.20-ounce packages of “Sliced Fried Pork Ears.” Each package has the establishment number “EST. 13479” inside the USDA mark of inspection. There are no production or expiration dates on the products in commerce. You can see all of the product labels at the USDA site (scroll down).

The pork snack is also misbranded in that it is raw and cannot be labeled as a “snack stick”. The problem was discovered by FSIS enforcement personnel. For questions, call the company’s ownder, Charlie Souriyavong, at 214-330-5995.
