Julian’s Recalls Pretzel Baguettes For Undeclared Allergen, Soy

Julian’s Recipe, LLC., is voluntarily withdrawing its European Style Pretzel Baguette from HEB Stores in Texas because they may contain soy flour.  Some packages labeled Pretzel Baguettes may contain Julian’s European Style Multigrain Garlic Baguettes, which are made with soy flour. The affected boxes were only shipped to HEB Stores in Texas and no illnesses have been reported.

Recall Signs 3This mislabeling is only a safety concern for consumers who are allergic to soy. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy risk serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The Pretzel Baguettes are sold in a white box containing two baguettes with a net weight 11.3 oz (320g). Consumers can identify the affected packages by the UPC Code: 8 55971 00226 9, the  lot code: L2312 and a best before date of 02/10/2014. This information is located  on the bottom right hand corner of the box.

The problems was discovered by a customer who found Garlic Baguettes in a Pretzel Baguette package. Julian’s Recipe has taken the precautionary measure of contacting the FDA and voluntarily removing the product from HEB Stores.
