Beef Strips for Dogs Recalled for Salmonella

NatPets LLC doing business as “I and love and you” of Colorado is recalling cow-boom! strips – beef gullet because it may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. There are no reported illnesses of pets or people associated with this recalled product.

I and love and you dog food recallThe recall is for cow-boom! strips – beef gullet packaged into 2.0 ounce bags, with lot numbers ending in 4T1 or 5T1. The best by year is 2016 or 2017. The UPC number of this product is 8 18336 01134 4. Look at the lot numbers and best-by dates on the package to see if you purchased this product.

If you purchased this product, do not feed it to your pet and do not handle it. Throw it away in a sealed or double bagged container so other animals can’t get at it, or return to the place of purchase for a full refund. Then wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

Salmonella can make animals sick, or they can become carriers of the bacteria without showing any symptoms. The bacteria are excreted in feces and can get on the dog’s coat. When a person pets the dog and doesn’t wash their hands before eating, they can get sick. This is a problem especially with children, who often pet animals and then put their hands into their mouths.

Symptoms of a Salmonella infection in pets include lethargy, diarrhea that may be bloody, fever, and vomiting. Some pets may only have a decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. If your dog is displaying these symptoms, take him to your vet.
