Best Brand Green Raisins Recalled for Undeclared Sulfites

green-rasin-recallBest Cash & Carry of Maspeth, NY is recalling Best brand green raisins for undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites should not eat this product as they run the risk of serious of life-threatening allergic reactions if they do.

The recalled product was sold in un-coded, 7 oz. plastic bags in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey.

The recall was initiated after samples collected during routine inspection by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors tested positive for sulfites which were not declared on the label.

Consuming 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving can cause severe reactions  in some asthmatics and anaphylactic shock in certain sulfite sensitive individuals. The recalled product contained 16.96 milligrams per serving.
