Bravo Pet Food Recalled for 5th Time in 2 Years

Bravo Pet Food is being recalled for the fifth time in two years. The current recall is for Bravo Chicken pet foods for dogs and cats. Customers who have purchased this food should not serve it to their pets as it could cause serious illness.

bravo-salmonella-recallThe recall was issues after the New York State Department of Agriculture found Salmonella in a random sample.  In the recall announcement, the company stated that all “products tested negative by a third party independent laboratory prior to release for distribution to consumers”

At the time of the recall, there had been no reports of illness in pets who ate the prdouct or people who handled it. Salmonella poisoning causes high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal cramping and diarrhea.  Consumers who have handled the food and are experiencing these symptoms should see a doctor. Pets who ate the food and are showing signs of illness should see a vet.

The recalled product was sold in 2 lb. chubs with the item number 21-102, “best if used by date” of 12/5/16 and the UPC 829546211028.

Products that did not test positive for Salmonella but were produced on the same day as the recalled product are also being recalled. All of them have “best if used by” dates of12-05-16. They are: Bravo Balance Chicken Dinner for dogs – Patties: item number 21 – 401, in 3 lb bags with 829546214012; Bravo Balance Chicken Dinner for dogs – 2 lb Chub with item number 21 – 402 and UPC 829546214029 and Bravo Blend Chicken diet for dogs & cats – Patties in 5 lb bages with item number 21 – 508 and UPC 829546215088.
