Champ’s Mushrooms in Canada is recalling sliced mini bella mushrooms because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported in connection to the consumption of this product.

The recalled product is Champ’s Mushrooms Sliced Mini Bella Mushrooms in 680 gram packages. The code on the product is BEST BEOFRE 15/JN/07. The UPC number isĀ 6 78286 29837 6. They were sold in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and possibly nationally.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard in a closed container and wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling the package. Then clean out your refrigerator with a mild bleach solution, since Listeria bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures.

If you ate any of these mushrooms, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. They include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Pregnant women may only have a mild flu-like illness, but listeriosis can cause stillbirth and miscarriage. If you do get sick, see your doctor and tell him you ate this recalled product.
