Chia Seeds Recalled in Canada for Possible Salmonella

Everspring Farms Ltd. and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency are updating the November 16, 2015 food recall warning for Salba ground chia seeds for possible Salmonella contamination to include more information. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of this product.

The recalled product is Salba brand Chia Seeds – Premium Ground in 150 gram containers. The Lot number is SSSBC150211-41 BB/MA APR-2017. This product was sold nationally at the retail level.

Food contaminated with Salmonella bacteria will not look, taste, or smell spoiled. This contamination does not change the texture or appearance of the food. The symptoms of a Salmonella infection include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed container so other people and animals can’t eat it, or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
